The East Bay Symphonic Band is a community band with an open invitation to all who wish to play an instrument. Some members have joined after a 30 year absence of playing. We have younger members who have advanced through our ranks to become music educators and professional musicians. Individual members have performed solos with the band as well as unique performances as Spike Jones impersonations and our own Bill Nemoyten, the nationally renowned, Mr. Horn-man. Many members volunteer their time in schools as music coaches, mentors and instrument repair techs. EBSB members are often members of other performing groups and organizations. Many attend the ACB National Conventions and other conferences at the local, state and national level. Others may be found sitting on the Board of Directors of musical organizations or high school Band Boosters. EBSB musicians have accepted invitations to join the Nevada County Invitational Community Band Concert held at Pioneer Park each July. We also perform regularly at the local senior and retirement centers. The East Bay Symphonic Band is a member of the Association of Concert Bands and is comprised of musicians from pre-teens to members in their eighties. Member occupations include students, military personnel, scientists, retirees, teachers, engineers, truck drivers and airline pilots. The band has been making contributions to our East Bay community since 1982, playing at such diverse venues as Golden Gate Park Band Festival in San Francisco and the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary Splash Down of Apollo 11 on the U.S.S. Hornet based in Alameda, CA.
